After hiking Mt. Garfield, our sports reporter Troy Lynch gathered up Shelby Bracho and Brandon Thompson and hiked Libery Cap in the National Monument for the next episode of ‘Troy’s Terrific Trails.’
Starting from the trailhead, it’s a three mile hike while climbing 2,004 feet. There are no dogs allowed on the trail, so if you have a fury friend you are not allowed to bring him/her.
The very beginning of the trail starts off nice and easy, but there is not a ton of shade. So protect yourself from the sun.
Things get steep pretty quick, as the climb starts and it doesn’t stop for a while. But, do not fret, it does not last long and it is doable for everyone.
If you want to get on top of the Liberty Cap, you will have to walk around the Cap until you find a rope. However, it is dangerous to climb the rope, so do be careful.
– Takes roughly 2.5 hours to complete
– Not a lot of shade, take your time and take breaks
– Get a good stretch in, before and after the hike
– Wear good hiking shoes. It can make or break the hike.
Fun for the whole family and friends!
