You Can Count on CASA of Mesa County

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – A local non-profit is looking for volunteers and donations in order to continue serving the needs of children here in Mesa County.

‘You Can Count on CASA!’— that’s the message from CASA of Mesa County, which is participating in the #GivingTuesdayNow campaign.

The campaign is a national emergency response to an unprecedented need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

CASA of Mesa County is asking locals to show support by making a donation of $25 or more, or by becoming a volunteer.

According to the Director of CASA, Joy Thompson, the non-profit is preparing for an uptick of cases in the aftermath of the pandemic.

And with one of its two annual fundraisers already cancelled, the organization needs all the support it can get.

“It’s a perfect storm for abuse and neglect to occur, so once kids really go back to school, hopefully in the fall, we anticipate that we will just see a huge increase in cases assigned to the casa program which will then lead to the need for a huge increase in volunteers,” said Thompson.

If you’d like to become a volunteer, the virtual five-week program is ready for you!
