OURAY, Colo. — The Ouray County Sheriff recently found himself on the receiving end of his deputy’s work.
Ouray County Sheriff Lance FitzGerald was arrested on the night before Thanksgiving, for allegedly driving under the influence.
FitzGerald was briefly booked into the Montrose County Jail before posting a bond of $750.
The arrest stems from a domestic incident while FitzGerald and a female were driving back to the sheriff’s home in Ridgway.
During the drive, the two got into an argument and FitzGerald says the woman hit him in the face and cut his nose.
The altercation prompted the sheriff to report the incident. The woman, Jaime Johnson, was detained for alleged domestic violence.
According to the affidavit, when the responding deputy arrived, he smelled alcohol on FitzGerald, who allegedly admitted to drinking. Fitzgerald allegedly blew a 0.133 breath alcohol concentration, which exceeds the legal driving limit.
