More exceptional pitching from the #1 Colorado Mesa baseball team held off the Colorado Mines Orediggers 11-1 Saturday from Suplizio Field, advancing the Mavs to the NCAA South Central Super Regionals.
CMU’s starter junior Trevin Reynolds pitched 8.0 innings on the mound, striking out 11 batters and only allowed 1 earned run. The Mavs bats slowly awoke as the game progressed, scoring at least one run from the sixth inning on, including two runs in the 8th and five runs in the 9th.
The Mavericks, despite their #1 seed in the South Central region, will head on the road for the Super Regionals due to a field conflict next week at Suplizio due to the JUCO World Series. The Mavs will face Angelo State on May 24th and 25th in a best-of-three series. The winner will head to the NCAA Division II Championships in Cary, North Carolina.
