Colin ‘Tank’ Simpson exploded onto the minor league scene almost right away with the Grand Junction Rockies. In his first season of pro ball he was named a Pioneer League all-star, starting in left field and hitting sixth in the lineup.
The Colorado Rockies 29th round pick from the 2019 draft has exceeded every expectation. He’s second in the league in homeruns (12), batting average (.378), while also leading the league in slugging percentage (.815) and on base + slugging percentage (1.259).
The Oklahoma State alum has been a major contributor to the Rockies success in 2019. He was also named the Pioneer League player of the week once.
KREX sports director Troy Lynch sat down with Tank to see how he’s feeling about competing in the homerun derby and how he likes the all-star atmosphere.
