Big Bats Advance Mavs Baseball in RMAC Tournament

For the second straight game, a high-production day from the bats of Colorado Mesa baseball players resulted in a win Thursday, 8-4 against the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in the second round of the 2019 RMAC Baseball Tournament.

The Mavs won their 43rd game of the season (43-9) through power swinging, led by sophomore Caleb Farmer. Farmer smacked a two-run home run off and over the left-field wall in the first inning, opening the scoring 2-0. It was Farmer’s sixth home run of the year and his second in the last two games.

Pitcher Garrett Hutson for CMU earned his 10th win of the season, finishing with 6.0 innings pitched, allowing just two earned runs with five strikeouts.

The Mavericks will place Dixie State in the winners bracket Friday at 11:00 p.m. at Suplizio Field, with the victor heading to the RMAC Tournament title game.
