Both CMU Squads Out Pace the Roadrunners

The Colorado Mesa women’s basketball team walked out of Friday with its fifth straight conference win, beating Metro State 70-61. The Mavericks came out hot, leading the Roadrunners by almost 30 points in the first half.

Senior point guard Sydni Brandon was doing everything. The reigning RMAC defensive player of the week nearly had a triple-double with nine points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

The reigning RMAC offensive player of the week had another great game off the bench. Dani Turner led both teams with 23 points, going 10-15 from the field, and 3-4 from three-point territory.

The men were able to get by Metro State with a stingy 60-58 win. Junior Georgie Dancer led the scoring with 20 points.

The men improve to (6-3) on the season and (2-1) in RMAC play.

Both squads will play Chadron State at Brownson Arena Saturday December 14. Women tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m.
