GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Local amateur and professional boxing took the ring amid an admiring crowd Saturday on the Colorado Mesa University plaza, raising money for mental health awareness and suicide.
The event, titled ‘Boxing For Awareness,’ was held in conjunction with Rival Boxing Gym. The group helped raise money for local non-profit ‘Voices For Awareness.’
‘Voices For Awareness’ works to spread awareness on mental health, addiction, suicide, and more, including provides resources for those who need it.
Between fights Saturday, the group invited family members and friends in the ring to display a member of their family who died due to drug overdose or suicide.
