Broncos Win Big Behind Allen’s Impressive NFL Debut

The Denver Broncos picked up their third win of the 2019 season with a 24-19 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

After getting the news that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco was out for the season recovering from a herniated disc, it was Brandon Allen who was called to take his place.

Allen has been in the NFL for a few seasons now, but had never played a regular or postseason snap, until tonight.

Allen went 12-20 for 193 yards and two touchdowns. His first career touchdown pass was a 21 yarder to Courtland Sutton who leaped over a defender to haul in the score.

Then his first throw of the second quarter was to rookie tight end Noah Fant who broke three tackles for the 75 yard touchdown. Fant had a career night, leading the team with 115 yards on three receptions.

The last touchdown was courtesy of Phillip Lindsay who had a 30 yard touchdown run in the third.

The Denver defense was strong tonight holding the Browns scoreless in the first and third quarter. The second quarter Cleveland had a few chances in the red zone, but the defensive unit held steady and kept them to four field goals.

The Browns lone touchdown of the game was to begin the fourth quarter, but couldn’t put any more points on the board after.

Allen was given the game ball and now fans have to wait an extra week to see what he can do because they head into a bye.

The Broncos will be back in action when they travel to Minnesota November 17, to take on the (6-3) Vikings.
