Just before the Denver Bronco’s first preseason game last Saturday, the organization released offensive lineman Leon Johnson and claimed former CMU Maverick Austin Fleer.
Fleer graduated from Colorado Mesa earlier this year and was named a division two All-American after an incredible senior season. He then joined the Cincinnati Bengals after going undrafted, but was waived in the middle of training camp.
However, because the Auraro native attended the University of Colorado’s pro day, this gave Broncos head coach Vance Joseph and John Elway to see Fleer’s massive 6’7″ 307 pound frame. They were instantly impressed and now are giving the Maverick a chance to play for his home state.
