CMU Hoops: Men Fall at Home; Ladies Back on Top

Sports

The last full weekend of the regular season did not start off great for the Colorado Mesa men’s basketball team. They were looking for revenge against Fort Lewis, but got a 85-68 loss instead.

Senior Connor Nichols led the Mavericks in points with 16, but CMU couldn’t keep up with the Skyhawks.

The men fall to (12-8) in conference play, tied for sixth in the conference standings with two games left to play. They need to be in the top eight in order to make the RMAC tournament.

However, the No. 22 women are back on top of the RMAC with a 78-53 win over the Skyhawks. Four Mavericks scored double digits points with freshman Natalie Bartle leading the charge with 22. They are back to the No. 1 spot in the conference standings as Westminster lost to Colorado Christian University on Friday night.

There are two more games left in the regular season. Both squads host Adams State on Saturday at 5:30/7:00 p.m.
