CMU Hosts Youth State Swimming Championships


GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Colorado Mesa’s El Pomar Natatorium packed in more than 500 swimmers from across Colorado over the weekend for the 2019 Long Course State Swimming Championships.

Individual youth teams ages 12 and under, including Junction’s local swimming club Maverick Aquatics, competing in the pool in the afternoon. The competition was split into two parts for the event: preliminary competitions ran in the morning, with final heats taking place in the afternoon.

53 teams were in attendance at CMU’s olympic-sized swimming pool, with the overhead seating nearly filled to capacity with family and friends.

Mavericks Aquatics youth swim club competes in USA Swimming sanctioned events year-round.
