On Thursday July 26, Nolan Ellis was named a DII Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2018 indoor season by USTFCCCA.
The red-shirt junior pole vaulter is the first Maverick to be honored with this achievement and rightfully so. He won the NCAA division II indoor vault after he cleared 5.35 meters.
Ellis also ended the school year with an impressive 3. 64 gpa while majoring in business administration and marketing.
There were five other CMU track and field athletes that were named to the All-Academic honoree list. The athletes were Michael Fera, Nathan Oglesby, Sarah Cerrone, Lauren Lipski, and Mekayla Winchester.
In a combined effort the Maverick men sported a 3.05 GPA, while the women boasted an impressive GPA of 3.42. So, 2018 was good to the Mavericks outside and inside of the classroom.
