CMU Softball Smacks Three Homers, Routs Rogers State


Zoe Pakes, Brooke Hodgson, and Kellie Mrofcza all nailed home runs in the opening round of the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament, topping Rogers State 10-2 Thursday at the CMU Softball Field. 

The Mavs scored five runs in the 5th and three runs in the 6th to secure the mercy. Pitcher Kimbri Herring won her 21st game of the season, allowing just two runs and striking out five. 

Mesa sends the Hillcats to the losers bracket of the tournament, while the Mavs advance to play Texas A & M Commerce in the semifinals. Their next game is scheduled for Friday at noon from the CMU Softball Field.
