Eight Homeruns Help Mavs Win Double Header

"Living By the Longball" - A CMU Story

No. 3 Colorado Mesa took both games of their double header today against Northwest Nazerene. The Mavs won the first game 10-8 in nine innings, and won the second 10-1 in seven innings.

The Mavs jumped out to a hot start in the first game with homeruns from Tyler Parker, Hayden McGeary, and two from Nolan Walker. The Nighthawks were able to tie it up in the top of the seventh. But, a two-run homerun from Chase Hamilton in the bottom of the frame gave the mavs a 10-8 lead and Frankie Fitzgerald threw two scoreless innings to close out the game.

Game two was dominated on both sides by the Mavs. Parker hit another homerun, and McGeary added two more adding to his incredible series. In the first three games against the Nighthawks McGeary is 10-for-11 with four homeruns and 10 RBIs. His performance should give him a good chance to win National player of the week, an award that junior Spencer Bramwell won this past week.

Senior Trevin Reynolds threw five scoreless innings striking out five batters. With the two wins, CMU improves to (8-1) on the year with a six game win streak. They will go for the series sweep Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
