For the grand finale of Friday Night Frenzy we had so many great performances that we couldn’t just give the honor out to one player. So, we broke our own rules and gave it to three.
Our first player of the week goes to Palisade senior Caden Sparks. Sparks lit up the stat sheet putting up 101 receiving yards in the game against Summit, which is something that few players are able to do in a game. He also led the team in rushing yards with 45 on only three carries. He had three touchdowns on the night.
The man throwing to Sparks also had a fantastic night, which is why we made him an honorable mention. Senior Cam Tucker was money with his arm. He was a perfect 7-7 for 161 passing yards and three touchdowns. Along with his 177.1 QBR, he ran for 44 yards and a touchdown in the demolition of Summit.
Palisade will play the first round of the CHSAA 3A state tournament against Durango Saturday November 16, at 1:00 p.m.
Next we have two Grand Junction Tigers.
Senior quarterback AJ Mariz was a man on a mission. He ran the ball 14 times for 182 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 13 yards a carry, and with his performance helped GJHS squeeze into the playoffs.
But, we can’t forget about senior Carson Loveridge who ran the ball 33 times for 161 yards and a TD. Not only that, but he had a 96 yard kick off return.
Grand Junction will play in the first round of the CHSAA 4A state tournament against No. 2 seed Broomfield on Saturday November 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Broomfield high school.
