GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Four Grand Junction Rockies players will represent the Pioneer League in next week’s 2019 All-Star Game from Boise Idaho: Christian Koss, Eddy Diaz, Colin Simpson, and Anderson Bido.
Shortstop Christian Koss is the hottest hitter in Grand Junction throughout 2019, racking up a .385 batting average with 7 doubles, 7 home runs, and 31 RBIs. Koss, a 12th round pick in the 2019 draft from UC Irvine, will start for the Pioneer League in the August 6th game.
Left fielder/catcher Colin Simpson was also named a Pioneer League starter. Simpson was named league Player of the Week in mid-July, batting .381 with a double, 2 triples, 2 home runs, and 10 RBIs. Through 30 games, Simpson boasts a .368 average with 25 RBIs and two stolen bases.
Two other Rockies players, Eddy Diaz and Anderson Bido, were both named reserves for the Pioneer League.
Diaz, an infielder for the Rockies, is batting .331 in 2019, with 3 triples and 24 runs scored. Diaz also boasts 18 stolen bases on the season in the lead-off spot in the lineup.
The lone pitcher who made the roster from Grand Junction, Bido (3-0) holds a 2.12 ERA in 14 appearances. Bido has struck out 19 batters in 17 innings of work, compared to just 4 walks.
The 2019 Pioneer League/Northwest League All-Star Game will be August 6th from Boise, Idaho.
