Fruita Girls Soccer Stalls in State Tournament

Sports

The Fruita Monument High School girls soccer team failed to find the net Friday at Walker Field, falling 1-0 to Ralston Valley in the second round of the CHSAA 5A girls soccer state tournament.

The Wildcats played the Mustangs close in the first half, with both teams creating chances on net. Fruita’s Lila Deer shot a free kick over the net midway through the first half.

The lone goal of the game came from Ralston Valley’s Sarah Piper, who shot a missle into the top right of the net to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half. Neither team would score again.

The Wildcats end their season with a 13-4 league record.
