Fruita Lacrosse Shuts Down Durango, Sets Up League Title Showdown

The Fruita Monument lacrosse team is on the cusp of a league title, winning Friday 22-3 over Durango at Canyon View Park.

The Wildcats scored 17 goals in the first half against the Demons, slowing down in the latter half of the contest. Nate Lyon and Rylan Harmon were among the goal scorers for Fruita.

The Wildcats are now 9-4 on the season, and 7-1 in league play. The win sets up a showdown against the Aspen Skiers for the 4A/5A Mountain league title. The Skiers are 6-0 in the league, and 8-2 overall. The teams will meet May 1st from Fruita High School at 4 p.m.
