GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — It was a tale of two games Saturday at Suplizio Field between the Grand Junction Rockies and the Rocky Mountain Vibes. The Rockies, despite committing 8 errors in the game, rallied from 7 down in the 7th inning to top the Vibes in a rain-soaked, 10-9 thriller.
Grand Junction, following a plethora of fielding mistakes, found themselves down 9-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th. Rockies third-baseman Christian Koss sparked the comeback flame for Grand Junction in the 9th inning, homering to right field to narrow the lead down to 9-7. Koss finished the night 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs.
After a single from Owen to reduce the lead to one, Jack Yalowitz beat our an infield single, scoring Todd Isaacs and tying the game at 9.
The Rockies completed the comeback the next inning. Brenton Doyle trickled a ball to the third baseman, who couldn’t be out a streaking Christopher Navarro to home. Navarro slid into home plate, cementing the walk-off victory and tallying their 10th run of the evening.
With the win, the Rockies move to 21-19 and 2-0 in the second half of the Pioneer League season. The Vibes fall to 17-23 and lose two out of three to Grand Junction.
The Rockies remain at home next for a series against the Ogden Raptors Monday. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m.
