GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — While Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association can not come to terms on a collective bargaining agreement in order to get their season underway, the 2022 Pioneer League season has an official Opening Day that baseball fans can get excited about.

The Grand Junction Rockies will open their season in Utah against the 2021 First Half Southern Division Champion Ogden Raptors. After six games in Ogden, the Rockies will play six games at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls against the Chukars before making their home debut at the renovated Suplizio Field with a six game set with the Boise Hawks.

The fireworks won’t be contained to just the field, as the first homestand of the season will also include the first of three scheduled fireworks shows on Friday, June 10. Fireworks will also follow the July 4 game against the Northern Colorado Owlz and the August 5 game against the Ogden Raptors.

There is only one double-header on the schedule to start the season and, if you want to see it, you’ll have to make the 309 mile trek from the friendly confines of Suplizio Field to UCHealth Park in Colorado Springs for the two-gamer against the Rocky Mountain Vibes.

If you’re interested in purchasing tickets or maybe even housing a player during the 2022 season, head over to the official Grand Junction Rockies page fore more information.
