JUCO Champs Return Home

JUCO Champs Return Home

After Chipola's 10-7 victory over No. 1 Walters State, the Indians became the first team since 1999 and 2000 to win back to back JUCO World Series national titles.

Eighteen and nineteen years ago it was done by Grayson College.

This is Chipola's third national championship in program history. Head coach Jeff Johnson first won it all back in 2007 and it took him ten years to win another one.

When asking him which one feels the best, he responded by saying, "Holy cow. I would say 2007 had the most euphoria, because it's the first time you did it. They all feel good, man. As a coach, you want these kids to have this moment."

Johnson is 3-3 when it comes to winning championships when he comes to Grand Junction. The Indians returned home today with a line of fans, family, and friends.

The only question now is, can they win a third in a row?
