GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The No. 1 seeded Delta Panthers and the No. 3 seeded Rifle Bears both advance to the quarterfinals of the CHSAA 2A State Football Tournament.
No. 1 Delta hosted No. 16 Alamosa at Panther Stadium in the first round of the playoffs, and this game wasn’t close as the Panthers cruised past the Mean Moose in a 49-14 victory. Delta will host No. 9 seeded The Classical Academy Titans next weekend.
It wasn’t so easy for No. 3 Rifle when they hosted No. 14 Brush in rematch of the regular season. In their regular season matchup, the Bears earned a narrow win over the Beetdiggers 28-14. This playoff match was even closer as Rifle edged out Brush in the fourth quarter 21-14. The Bears will host the No. 6 University Bulldogs in their quarterfinal game.
