GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX)–A chilly day didn’t keep these pitchers from staying hot in the first 4 innings played on Monday. It wasn’t until the top of the 4th, when Fort Lewis’s Alex Tenorio drove on down the left foul line and into the neighboring field. The Mavericks would get a few of their own, and in the bottom of the 7th, it was tied at 3-3. An odd way to end a game though, as Miranda Pruitt would get hit by a pitch with bases loaded, and the Mavs walk off with a 4-3 victory under their belt.
The second game wouldn’t go the Mavericks way though, as a big 7th inning by the Skyhawks would see 3 runners cross home plate, and the Mavs were unable to come back from a 6-4 deficit. Fort Lewis would get the victory in game 2 by a final score of 6-4.
