GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa standout safety Damar’ren Mitchell was named to the AP Division II All-American second team Wednesday (Dec. 15) afternoon. The AP All-American team, presented by Regions Bank, is chosen by a panel of sportswriters and sports information directors in conjunction with CoSIDA.

The Magnolia, Texas native continues to reel in the accolades after a stellar senior season. He finished the season with a team-high 73 total tackles and had three games where he recorded double-digit tackles.

He recorded a season-best 15 tackles and had the game-clinching interception against Chadron State. His effort helped the Mavericks land the top spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the No. 10 rankings in total defense.

Mitchell is one of just six (one first-team selection, five second-team selections) student-athletes from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference named to the team.
