Grand Junction High School seniors Megan King and Tia Wright signed national letters of intent Wednesday to continue their track careers into college.
King will stay in Grand Junction and run for Colorado Mesa University. The Mavericks practice on the same high school track King ran on as a Tiger.
Wright will travel to the eastern side of the state where she will run for the Bears of Northern Colorado. Both King and Wright say they are looking forward to their next life hurdle.
“I won’t be nervous about getting to know a whole new town and things like that,” said King. “So I think it’ll definitely help me for track, practicing out here on the same track I’ve been practicing on for four years already. So I think it will be an advantage for sure.”
“Freshman year, I watched a bunch of the seniors sign and I wanted that to be me,” said Wright. “I want to be signing to a college and be able to participate in college athletics. Now that I’m here it’s just really exciting.”
