Mavs Baseball’s Magic Run Ends in National Championship

The Colorado Mesa baseball team again fell short in the NCAA Div. II World Series, falling 3-1 to the Tampa Spartans in the National Championship Saturday from the USA Baseball Training Complex Cary, North Carolina.

The Mavs Trevin Reynolds picked up the loss, throwing seven innings and allowing three earned runs, including the deciding two in the 7th frame. The Spartans Yorvis Torrealba singled through the left side, driving in the game-winning runs. Neither team would score again. Mesa’s lone runs would come from a Chase Hamilton RBI in the 6th inning, scoring Spencer Bramwell

CMU’s Bramwell and Will Dixon were both named to the NCAA National Championship All-Tournament team following the loss. The Mavs season ends with a 53-12 mark, breaking the school record for wins in a single season.
