Mavs Lacrosse’s 52 Goals Sets NCAA Record


The Colorado Mesa men’s lacrosse team showed no mercy to opponent Johnson & Wales, dominating the Wildcats 52-0 and setting an NCAA Division II record for goals in a game Tuesday night at Walker Field. 

The Mavs outshot the Wildcats 81-0 in the game, scoring their final goal 7:37 in the 4th quarter. The game was called shortly after, following a Wildcats penalty and an injury to a Mesa player. 

21 different Mavericks scored at least one goal in the game. Jason Kauo led all scorers with six goals on 10 shots. Seniors Jack Griffin and Beau Lansdown earch record five goals apiece. 

The Mavs improve to 5-6 on the season, and play the heart of the RMAC schedule beginning Friday at 7:00 p.m. versus CSU-Pueblo.
