Beneath the sweltering sun at Walker Field Sunday, the Colorado Mesa women's soccer team dropped their first conference game of the year 1-0 to #7 Colorado School of Mines.
Both teams were scoreless heading into the first half. Chances for Mesa's Zoe Peterson and Lexi Newton failed to find the back of the net. In the 76th minute, Jennifer Kendall blew past two Mesa defenders and scored the only goal of the match. The Orediggers took 16 shots on net in the game compared to just six for the Mavs.
Colorado Mines (5-0-1) remained unbeaten, and has still not allowed a goal to any opponent this season. Mesa (3-2-1) is now 1-1 in the RMAC following the loss. The Mavs continue their conference slate next weekend against Metro State on Friday, September 21st.
