Opening Ceremony for Special Olympics Summer Games

The Special Olympics Colorado Summer Games celebrated its 50th anniversary Friday at Suplizio Field with the traditional Opening Ceremony.

More than 1,000 athletes and volunteers walked across Suplizio in front of friends and family, cheering on the contestants in the weekend Olympics. The parade of athletes was followed by a performance from Kaleb Lee of “The Voice” and fireworks.

The competition runs between June 7th-9th on the campus of Colorado Mesa University. A full list of the schedule can be found on Special Olympics Colorado’s website.
