Palisade Scores Early, Shuts Down Durango 20-3


The Palisade Bulldogs scored two touchdowns in the first 90 seconds of Thursday’s game, winning 20-3 against the Durango Demons at Stocker Stadium. 

Palisade senior Jason Bruce returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for the touchdown. giving the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead after a missed extra point. On the ensuing Durango drive, safety Cam Tucker cut off a route and intercepted a pass, returning it 23 yards for the score. 

Palisade would add a late touchdown in the 4th quarter to cap off the game. 

“I’m proud of the kids, and the way they answered,” Palisade head coach Joe Ramunno said following the win. “Durango’s got a lot of weapons. We did a lot of good things tonight. Bend but don’t break.”

Palisade moves to 1-0 on the season, while Durango falls to 1-1. The Bulldogs will take on Green Mountain next in Lakewood September 7th at 7:00 p.m.
