Playoff Preview: Montrose and Delta with Tough Games this Weekend

Similar Style and Familiar Foes

There are two Westernslope teams left in the high school football playoffs.

The Montrose Indians are heading into the 4A State Tournament quarterfinals after a 28-13 win against No. 11 Brighton a week ago. Now they have the tough task of playing No. 5 Pueblo West.

The Cyclones have the same record as the Indians (10-1) and are a little more balanced when it comes to offense.

Montrose hosts Pueblo West Saturday November 23, at 12:00 p.m.

And the Delta/Basalt game must be the most anticipated 2A rematch of the season. The Panthers and Longhorns meet up in the state semi-finals, where Delta took the first round 35-6 in the regular season.

There are a few differences since October 18. Both teams have improved and now the game will be at Basalt high school because the Longhorns took out No. 1 Rifle in the second round of the tournament.

This game will kick off Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from Basalt High School.
