Rockies Drop Game 1 of Championship Series

The Grand Junction Rockies fell into an early hole, dooming their chances in a 12-9 loss Tuesday to the Great Falls Voyagers in Game 1 of the Pioneer League Championship Series.

Eris Filpo allowed five earned runs in just 1.1 innings of work, starting a Voyagers rally that would lead to a 10-3 deficit for Grand Junction after the second inning.

Niko Decolati helped rally the Rockies with a two-run home run in the third inning. Coco Montes and Hunter Stovall both finished with two RBIs apiece in the loss.

The series now moves to Great Falls, Montana for games two and three. The Rockies will face the Voyagers in a possible title-clinching game Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
