Rockies First Round Draft Pick Speaks out Against Past Controversial Tweet

The day after the Colorado Rockies drafted left-handed pitcher Ryan Rolison 22nd overall in the 2018 MLB Draft, reports brought back a tweet that Ryan made in 2012. The tweet was in regard of President Obama being reelected and said, "Well we have one hope left... if someone shoots him during his speech."

The tweet was deleted early in the day on June 5, 2018.

Rolison spoke out to 'The Athletic' saying, "It was in 2012 and it was a stupid tweet. It was immature of me. I had no idea what I was talking about."

Bill Schmidt, the Colorado Rockies scouting coordinator, also spoke in regards to the matter. "We take a look at it. We realize kids do things at a very young age that they might regret at some point as they mature. We are aware of the things that young people do."
