So far so good for the Grand Junction Rockies in the second half of the season. They beat the Ogden Raptors 4-1 on Monday night to keep a perfect (3-0) record in the part two of the 2019 season.
The bats got started early thanks to a solo homerun in the first inning by Christian Koss, which was his seventh on the year. He also had an RBI double in his second at bat to improve his pioneer league leading batting average to .398.
Grand Junction native Owen Taylor smacked his third homerun of the season in the second inning, giving the Rockies a 3-0 lead.
Helchris Olivarez picked up his third win of the season, as he threw 4.2 innings, giving up five hits, a run, four walks, and struck out nine batters.
He was followed by Trysten Barlow, Jacob Kostyshock, and Gavin Hollowell who combined for 4.1 innings of shutout baseball. Hollowell got his sixth save with the win.
The Ogden Raptors have only lost a total of eight times in the 2019 season, three of them coming from Junction.
Game two of the series will be Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. at Spulizio field.
