It was a good night for both Colorado Mesa basketball programs. The two squads got revenge against Westminster, which they lost to on the road just two weeks ago.
The women scraped by with a 50-47 win over the Griffins. In their last squabble, Mesa blew an 18 point lead and suffered their first loss in RMAC play. But with the win the Mavs now sit nicely at the top of the conference with some room to spare.
The men were in control the whole game, and won 75-61. They had a 11 point lead going into halftime, and when Westminster tried to make a comeback late in the game CMU hit five three-pointers in the final six minutes.
Five Mavericks scored in the double digits, there were 19 team assists, and Tommy Nuno had another double double (15 points, 10 rebounds, four assists).
Next up is Dixie State Saturday February 8. The women Trailblazers are (9-7) in RMAC play with a loss on Friday night. CMU has now won three in a row with a (15-1) conference record.
The men trailblazers are the No. 22 team in the country and co-lead the RMAC with a (13-3) record. CMU is tied for fourth in the standings and a perfect (10-0) at home.
