Trevin’s Gem Sends CMU Baseball to RMAC Title Game

Sports

Colorado Mesa junior pitcher Trevin Reynolds threw a stellar game Friday at Suplizio Field for the RMAC Tournament winners bracket finals, leading the Mavs to a 3-1 victory over Dixie State.

Reynolds hurled 117 pitches in the contest in 7.2 innings pitched, allowing just one earned runs and striking out six. The junior pitcher won his fourth game of the season, surrendering just two hits after seven innings of work. Mesa pitcher Will Dixon picked up his 12th save of the season, throwing a perfect 1.1 innings en route to the victory.

Mesa bats were quiet for most of the game, but gave run support to Reynolds in the 7th. Chase Hamilton singled to left field, scoring Spencer Bramwell and Josh Shapiro. Mesa pushed their lead to 3-0 following the inning.

The Mavs advance to their 7th straight RMAC Tournament championship Saturday. They will take on the two-seeded Colorado School of Mines for the title game Saturday at 1:00 p.m. If CMU wins, they will be named RMAC Tournament champs. If the Orediggers previal, the two teams will play a winner-take-all contest in the double-elimination tournament at Suplizio at 4:30 p.m.
