Did you know that Hawaii produced professional snowboarders? Neither did we. 21-year-old Lyon Farrell has changed X-Games coming from Haiku, HI competing in men’s snowboard slopestyle.
Lyon didn’t make it to the finals, but his excitement to be in Aspen for his first X-Games was apparent. His mom was also in attendance who is an X-Games gold medalist herself.
Angela Cochran Farrell won a gold medal in wind-surfing at the first X-Games in 1995, and she was so excited to see her son compete in the 2020 Winter games.
Sports director Troy Lynch caught up with the two to talk about their X-Games bloodline, and what it’s like being a professional snowboarder from a surfing state.
