WESTERN SLOPE, Colo. –
Montrose lost to Pueblo West in the quarterfinals of the 4A playoffs in Montrose Saturday. The First half was a rough outing for the Indians, going into the locker room down 17-0. The Cyclones opened up the 3rd quarter with a TD, giving Montrose their biggest deficit of the season. But the Indians responded like the four seed they are, scoring three unanswered touchdowns and cutting the lead to 24-19. But a final TD from Pueblo West essentially sealed the game. The Cyclones held on for the 31-19 win.
Delta Punched their ticket to the 2A Championship game with a win in Basalt. The Panthers D came out to play holding the Longhorns scoreless through the first half. A field goal and a pair of Nolan Bynum- Hunter Hughes TD strikes led the Panthers to their first championship game since 1961. After the 17-6 win Saturday, the Panthers will turn their attention to the two seed Sterling, who beat Resurrection Christian 21-14.
