What to Expect from the Broncos First Preseason Game

What to Expect from the Broncos First Preseason Game

Thursday was the last practice before the Denver Broncos play their first preseason game of the season. The veteran players had the day off on Wednesday and Thursday the team practiced without pads and ran through plays and drills.

Most of the starters on the depth chart are returning players, except for Bradley Chubb. He is listed as the first-team strong side linebacker. We are not certain that he will start in their first game against the Minnesota Vikings, but we're not sure who we will see get the start on Saturday.

"The first team will get two series max," head coach Vance Joseph said. "After that we'll go with our twos hopefully through the first half until the third quarter. And give our threes a chance to play the third and fourth quarter."

However, we did not know the specifics of who will be on the second and third team, and we might not find out even during the game.

"It's hard to say after the first group leaves who's twos and threes, our best group is going to be on the field," Joseph said.

But, Joseph made it very clear what he wants to see out of his players come Saturday.

"You want to see if you're in good condition, you want to see if you're a disciplined football team, and you want to see how tough you are. Obviously you want to win a game, but inside these games you can get a lot done."

The first preseason game will be at Mile High Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Saturday August 11.

Practice Notes:

- Some players on the first team will also get mixed in with the second and third team.

- Joseph said that Devontae Booker is the lead running back, along with Royce Freeman.

- On the depth chart, RB Phillip Lindsay was not listed in the 1-4 backs. But, he was listed as the first team kick returner.

- WR River Cracraft connected well with Case Keenum today, displaying his play-making ability with a couple touchdown catches.
