After 10 days off, the Fruita Monument high school girl’s basketball team beat Brighton high in the second round of the 5A CHSAA state tournament 42-19 Friday night.

After a first round bye in the tournament, the Wildcats only scored six points in the opening quarter, but held the Bulldogs to three. Defense was the name of the game for FMHS as it held BHS to just 10 points in the first half.

The Wildcats are now 22-2 on the season, and will host Doherty high school Tuesday March 3 at a time that will be announced.
