On Thursday afternoon, Fruita Monument senior quarterback Zach Rush signed to play division one football at the University of Northern Colorado.
"They just have a great atmosphere (at UNC)," Rush said. "Coach Collins has a great coaching staff and a great group of players. We're just gonna try to get something rolling."
This past season, the 6'3" QB led the Wildcats to a (9-3) season and to a state quarterfinals appearance. Rush's senior year was easily his best as he posted 962 passing yards while completing 53 out of 95 pass attempts. He also tacked on 173 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns.
"The game can be taken away from you at anytime," Rush said. "I've seen some of best friends go down with season ending injuries you just have to go out and give every play 100% because you never know when it's going to be taken away from you."
The future Bear was surrounded by family, friends, coaches and classmates today and could really feel the support.
"I couldn't imagine going anywhere else with a different group of people," Rush said. "These guys are my family. Everyone here; teachers, coaches, friends, moms, dads, everyone, it's been the best experience of my life and I wouldn't of traded it for anything."
