The Dish has a recipe just for you. Today we are featuring a recipe for Mississippi Mud Cake. This is the perfect dish to make if you are craving something rich and sweet!

Let’s start with the ingredients. For this dish you will need:

2 cups sugar

1 cup shortening

1 ¼ cup flour

1 cup chopped nuts

1/3 cup cocoa

4 eggs

3 teaspoons vanilla

1 teaspoon salt

1 jar marshmallow cream

Now that we have the ingredients, we will start by heating the oven to 350 degrees. After that is done we will cream the shortening, sugar and eggs together by hand. Sift the flour, salt and cocoa separately and then add it to the sugar mixture. Once that is done, mix in the vanilla and nuts to the mixture.

Put the mixture into a 9×10 inch cake pan and bake it in the oven for 30 minutes. Once the 30 minutes is up, remove the cake from the oven and spread the marshmallow cream across the top. Return the cake to the oven to let the cream melt (only for a few minutes). Let the cake cool and then frost it as you prefer. Now you have your very own homemade Mississippi Mud Cake!
