GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — This is the second gun incident at D51 schools this year and it’s only the second week of school.

The first incident was last Friday when a student brought an airsoft gun into East Middle School, and today a student brought an unloaded BB gun into Chipeta Elementary School.

For some parents, like William Huntley it’s not about the low-powered gun being brought into school; it’s about any gun being brought into school at all.

“It doesn’t matter if it was a BB gun, an airsoft gun, or a 9mm it was still brought to school,” said Huntley.

William Huntley is the father of a Chipeta Elementary School student.

District 51 sent this email to parents in the morning right after the incident.

The email sent to Chipeta Elementary School parents.

“If it was a real gun, I could’ve had a dead child on my hands today,” said Huntley.
