GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Grand Junction Parks and Recreation has announced a new slate of fireworks shows for 2023.
Five shows are scheduled for this spring and summer at Lincoln Park Stadium’s Suplizo Field to celebrate Memorial Day, the 4th of July, the start of the GJ Jackalopes baseball season, the Jackalopes final summer game before the start of school and the Colorado Mesa University’s participation night.
The plan for fireworks this year at Lincoln Park is modeled on the success of the shows in 2022. Reducing the number of fireworks shows last year was well received by the community. While we know many people enjoy watching fireworks, especially on the 4th of July, we heard from others that reducing the number of shows and holding them earlier would help lessen the impact on people and pets who are sensitive to the noise they create.
Ken Serbenou, Parks and Recreation director
The city reduced the number of fireworks shows held each year in response to community input in 2022, and has decided to stay with the lower total of shows this year.
