GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — We’ve reported on the clean-up of the public land the city is currently undergoing but now see up close what it actually looks like.

One encampment was abandoned and the second still had people living in it. Both were littered with trash, bike parts, and needles.

The abandoned encampment was due to the efforts of the Grand Junction Police Department, Catholic Outreach, The Joseph Center, Homeward Bound, and others. The people living there were able to be talked into moving out.

The other camp was on private land. GJPD told me they can’t do anything there unless the landowner asks for their help.
