FRUITA, Colo. (KREX) — Fruita held its annual Mike the Headless Chicken Festival this weekend.

For those that don’t know Mike was a chicken back in 1945 who was beheaded but didn’t die and even proceeded to live on for 18 months without a head.

Every year Fruita celebrates Mike with a two-day festival with live music from local bands, a 5k run, a peeps eating contest, and of course you know there had to be some chicken dancing.
