GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX)–The 2023 Maverick Classic is a road race hosted by the Grand Junction Sports Commission and the CMU cycling team which will be held at 2 locations over the weekend.

The course downtown stretches from 3rd to 6th streets — and from Colorado to Rood avenues…a 0.86 mile loop while the Whitewater course is an 11-mile loop around Purdy Mesa and Kannah Creek Roads.

The series of races started at 11:00 Saturday morning with the 40 and over race, but the main action started at about 4:00 Saturday evening with the collegiate women’s and Men’s races, both of which last approximately 70 minutes. Sunday’s events begin at 9:15 am at the Whitewater course.
