GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Rain showers will continue for Western Colorado Tuesday night and throughout Wednesday. It should go without saying that the mountain zones (currently under Winter Weather Advisories/Winter Storm Warnings) will received another 1-2 feet of new snow. The avalanche danger will continue to be an issue in the back country/high country, but the mountain passes will be susceptible to travel issues/closures. Wind gusts will continue to be a more impactful weather element for the valleys Wednesday (strongest wind gusts in the higher elevations). Colder air arrives for the mornings beyond Thursday and colder afternoons remains beyond Saturday.

There is another storm system developing late this weekend and early next week. The good news it will be a continental airmass that will be colder not necessarily wetter like our current/of late trend. Until that swings through, Western Colorado will maintain lingering showers through the end of the workweek.
