Animals in hot cars

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – As the summer temperatures rise, it is very dangerous to leave pets unattended in a hot car. Mesa County Animal Services responds to cases like these frequently. Leaving a cracked window open for the pet also will not ensure safety. The inside of a hot car can exceed the outdoor temperature within minutes. To report a pet locked in a hot car you can dial option 1 on Animal Service’s main line: (970) 242-4646 to reach a dispatcher.
